subZwallet App Settings: General, Subscription, and Advanced Configuration
Every subscription operation in subZwallet, from payment retries to customer notifications, runs on settings you control from a single dashboard. Misconfigured defaults are one of the fastest ways to lose subscribers to involuntary churn or confuse customers with generic messaging.
The App Settings panel organizes configuration into three sections: General (billing, communications, storefront), Subscription (order and shipping), and Advanced (developer tools, inline component controls). This reference covers every section, what each setting does, its default value, and the operational impact of changing it.
How to access App Settings
Open the subZwallet app from your Shopify admin. In the left sidebar, click **App Settings**. Three navigation tabs appear: General, Subscription, and Advanced.

The table below maps each settings group to its section and summarizes what it controls.
General settings
The General section contains settings that affect day-to-day subscription operations: how failed payments are handled, what plan you are on, and how your emails look.
Dunning Settings
Dunning controls the automated recovery sequence when a subscriber payment fails. You configure three things: the number of retry attempts, the interval between retries, and the final action taken when all retries are exhausted.
For a full walkthrough of dunning configuration with strategy recommendations, see How to Set Up Dunning (/help/how-to-set-up-dunning).
Billing & Plan
This panel shows your current subZwallet plan, subscription count against your plan limit, and billing cycle. Upgrading or downgrading your plan happens here. For a comparison of plan features and limits, see Plans and Pricing (/help/plans-and-pricing).
Email Templates
Every automated email subZwallet sends, including payment failure alerts, renewal reminders, subscription confirmations, and cancellation notices, is editable from this screen. You control subject lines, body text, and brand elements. Detailed editing instructions are in Email Templates (/help/email-templates).
Customer Portal
The Customer Portal setting will allow subscribers to manage their own subscriptions (skip, pause, swap, update payment) from a branded self-service page. This feature is coming soon.
Subscription settings
The Subscription section covers settings tied to recurring order fulfillment.
Shipping Rates
Shipping Rates will let you define rate rules specifically for subscription renewal orders, separate from your standard Shopify shipping profiles. This is useful for offering free or discounted shipping on recurring orders as a retention incentive. This feature is coming soon.
Advanced settings
The Advanced section is for developer tools and granular component-level controls that most merchants will not need to touch during normal operation.
Integrations and API Access
Integrations will provide connections to third-party services like email marketing platforms, analytics tools, and CRMs. API Access will expose keys for custom development against the subZwallet API. Both features are coming soon.
Inline component controls
Advanced settings expose configuration for several inline components that affect subscription behavior at specific failure or conversion points.
Subscription payment gateway requirements
Shopify requires Shopify Payments or a compatible gateway (Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net) for subscription checkout. Accelerated checkout methods like Shop Pay are supported when Shopify Payments is the primary gateway. Confirm your gateway is compatible before configuring billing settings (https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/purchase-options/subscriptions/considerations).
Recommended configuration sequence
If you are setting up subZwallet for the first time, configure settings in this order to avoid downstream issues.
- Verify your payment gateway under Shopify Settings > Payments. Confirm Shopify Payments or a supported gateway is active.
- Open App Settings > Billing & Plan. Confirm your plan supports your expected subscriber count.
- Configure Dunning Settings. Set retry attempts, intervals, notification preferences, and final action.
- Edit Email Templates. Update subject lines and body copy to match your brand voice before any subscriber emails go out.
- Review Advanced > Inline Components only if you need custom failure handling or upsell product configuration.
